Hair extension facts part 1
It boils down to how much one knows their hair and what they want, most importantly what they want to do with it. Caucasian hair is better suited for finer textures like Russian hair as long as the hair is virgin cuticle correct either in weft or in bulk or pre-tipped, but some clients of mine have blended better with Indian Remy hair and sometimes Brazilian hair so nothing is definite and absolute. Some have even tried straight Asian hair from china and it never tangled so, there must be a lot of hype and perception deception when grading these hairs don't ya think. I personally do not think European hair is the best hair, it is where you may find a probable match if natural hair is eurosilky, it suits some people and does not suit others, the general usage is normally Euroasian hair and Indian remy with some brazilian hair as well and these seem to blend well with my clients with caucasian hair. But for afro hair in strand extensions, hair that is similar to the permed texture is what is preferred so many would use hair bought from the shops that have been stripped from the cuticle and do tangle and lose shine after two washes even though you can still have quality remy yaki hair that is cuticle correct.
I do have my favourites and customers favourites brands, but I prefer ordering from small businesses who prepare the hair themselves when it comes to more commercial hair:
Bohyme-comes in yaki permed texture to silky Remy and varieties(re-usable), very buttery and luscious
Premium-comes in many varieties(clients have disposed of them after one use)
Janet and American dream-nice hair, the wavy ones feel so buttery and luscious
wagman's-fantastic for weaves
Milky way saga-only line of this brand that keeps its softeness
others like urban beauty, black beauty extensions do serve their purpose for weaves and hair extensions, however some I just prefer to use for plaits and quick weaves but if you are good with handling your hair pieces these hairs can be treated to last longer
For strand by strand hair extensions clients sometimes come with their own hair but when they prefer to consult me I colour match and order from small businesses whom I trust and sometimes from fresh hair cosmetics despite the price, I have to say the quality is admirable so it is an investment.
I am yet to discover more brands but for now these are the ones my regular clients have felt comfortable, and many of them have over 20years of getting their done so I take their word and match it with my perception.
the hairlounge will be stocking its own hair soon so stay tuned!

microrings- tiny link tubes that vary in lenght long or short are used to hold pretipped hair onto the clients hair, it requires no use of chemicals or glues)
microshrinkies- small shrink tubes made of shrinkable material are used to hold pretipped hair onto place and after applied, they get shrinked with an applicator to become tight around the hair
microknots- (Brazilian knots or brazilian extensions, dominican knots or elastin fusion. one of the strongest and longlasting)
micro pinch- small section of extensions are pinch tied onto the hair and then closed via 3 diverse methods.

More about me: my "hairstory"
I modelled in my younger days and that is how I started getting into everything hair and general aesthetics, many stylists did not know what to do with my hair and hair extensions was nothing new so I showed a hair stylist one day how to put a weave on my hair and he let me work with him. At that time weaves and hair extensions was only available to the rich, hair systems specialists and very few “ethnic” circles. I worked with him and got extensive training in different industry methods. I know that in hair extensions,(I guarantee you) nothing is new under the sun that has not been tried yet, I have done workshops and training, I have used patented machines, bonds and have worked with industry’s systems, a humble experienced woman I am. The only thing I have learnt is are two, know what hair is made of, how it behaves and know the components of what you are using to extend. If you do not know the basis on hair extensions in general, it is very easy for someone to tell you amazing things about their particular systems. So I hope to educate, transform looks, enlighten, enhance, bless and be blessed by those with whom I encounter on my work journey as i grow and establish myself although I am quite happy where I love my niche clientele.
(I have travelled a bit around Europe and I have worked with hair for years, moreso I have studied hair, chemistry and herbalism and they seem to come in handy when I use products too! I do have a very rare appreciation for natural hair and I like for hair extensions to enhance natural hair and not damage or debilitate it, hence I make sure I inspect chemical products for hair extensions, especially the bonding glues and aftercare products.
I have had extensive training in strand by strand methods of extension, hair integration, weaves, afronatural textured hair, dreadlocks, braids, dreadlock extensions etc. Even if I do not do your hair, I can guarantee you that even a consultation leaves you with enough knowledge and information to never be fooled by no big names in the industry. Hair extensions and hair grooming is the oldest trade in the world!
