When oil is mentioned people immediately think of grease, they do not think of the supernuorishing lipids or the vitamins in it. Using hair oils before colouring, toning, perming hair is a good way to invite the amino nutrients and vitamins in the oil into the hair cuticle thus not only nuorishing the hair but also giving it extra shine and strenght. Oils are also good to use when on holiday for extra gliding and slippage when in the water to prevent the salt from drying out the hair or turning it into a tangled mess! Oil are good for oil rinsing in the summer after you have enjoyed your sun bathing and sea water playing, instead of using excessive washing to further dry out your hair you can oil rinse your hair(does not mean leave grease in your hair!). Leave small amounts of hair oil in your hair to stay the whole day while you go about your business in the sun, this will coat your hair, protect it and nuorish.
Anyone who knows about India and Latin America will know that oils are a big part in many places to feed hair and give it strenght, even help it to grow. An old practise like Ayurveda has always stressed the benefit of oils, herbs and phytonutrient, Latin Americans have always used hair oils, Africans and Arabs have used treatment based on oils, middle easterns, everyone! A country like India supplies the hair industry with over 60% of hair extensions worldwide and their hair is lovely! Latin america is beginning to supply more and more hair industries with hair as well as reputable and high end products like real brazilian and peruvian hair and the ojon palm nut butters and powders! The benefits of cocnut oil, African shea butter and Argan oil has been raved about by all races for their amazing benefits. So this summer when you read articles that tell you the sun is the enemy of hair and salt water will make your hair frizzy and dry, just tell them no it is not, all you are being told is simply to extra nuorish and moisturize your hair.
Note>: I wrote this piece with the hope that who reads it actually knows how to apply hair oils so please do not overload your hair and skin and go sit under the sun for 8hours!
